My pro-safety take: hard defense is part of basketball, but repeated off-ball grabs, hip checks, and late contact can turn into a message if officials let it slide. Clark is not the only player who deserves protection, but the spotlight on her makes the league response matter.

The strongest pro-safety argument is not that one player deserves special treatment. It is that a visible star can force the league to clean up standards for everyone.
