Summary
So, I've been mulling this over and have been trying to settle a debate on how to go about this. There are two options, and I'll do my best to explain the short-comings that I hope you'll be able to answer (or at least answer one of them) First, here is a mock-up UI I did in Photoshop. (the actor status UI element has some design issues, but I can address that later, that isn't the main concern of this post) Spoiler {

First, here is a mock-up UI I did in Photoshop. (the actor status UI element has some design issues, but I can address that later, that isn't the main concern of this post)
So here are my options:
I could either use SRD's HUD Maker which seems the most user friendly thanks to it's GUI and low price tag (as in...free). I've already played around with it a little bit and have a general idea of it's workflow.
Here's the problem: I had been doing some Google searching and found...lackluster answers as to how to completely remake the battle UI. SRD has a video explaining how to do a Battle UI, but the video only talks about redoing the status window. What I am wondering is how to remake the the entire UI, including the command windows. The biggest problem is what condition do I use to make the skill UI elements appear when the player has selected skill (or in the example screen shots, that would be "Engage" or "Support"), and likewise for the item UI elements.
How does one go about remaking the entire HUD using HUD Maker? More specifically, what conditions need to be called to make this work properly?
Option #2, I use the Luna Engine for MV. It seems very capable at easily executing this kind of thing and is sort of what I am leaning towards...but there are 2 big problems: First, and most obviously, the price, which leads into the second problem, that without any sort of way for me to demo this product, I have no idea if it will meet my needs or if I will even be capable of using it since I am a complete dummy when it comes to scripting stuff. I would feel really burned if I spent $60 on a product I can't even figure out how to use.
And this is the crux of the matter: I can't get any real info about utilizing Luna Engine for this kind of thing, nor any sort of opinion about it's functionality compared to it's worth. There just isn't a lot of information out there about it outside of the documentation and a handful of iffy videos (at least from what I could find).
Can you provide, or can you help me find more information about Luna MV; and for a coding dummy, how difficult would it be for me to get this work? How much bashing my head into a wall will it take until I can get the UI to function correctly? How much support would I be able to find if I need help getting something to work correctly? (I rarely see posts made here about Luna Engine)
Your support is always appreciated.
