For the past few years, I’ve been working on a large MV project that consumed a huge amount of my time and energy. Over time, the scale of it became overwhelming.
Still, during development, I ended up creating many custom plugins to push the engine beyond its default presentation and make the game feel more cinematic and immersive.
Today, I’ve decided to start releasing some of those plugins publicly. Across next weeks, I'll be releasing the plugins here for free. They will be of various functionalities; from UI, through minigames to battle mechanics.
The first one is: Cinematic Message Fade.
This plugin replaces MV’s default typewriter style dialogue with message fade transitions, giving conversations a cleaner, more modern visual appearance.

The first one is: Cinematic Message Fade.
This plugin replaces MV’s default typewriter style dialogue with message fade transitions, giving conversations a cleaner, more modern visual appearance.
Features:
- Smooth fade-in / fade-out message transitions
- Instant full-page dialogue display
- Fast-forward support
- Compatibility with RS_MessageAlign.js
Simple change - surprisingly big impact on atmosphere. It had very good opinions amongst fast readers.
Due to the typewriter style, games immediately give this default RPG Maker vibe. I would say it's not the standard anymore and this may be the first thing you should change if you aim to make a modern project.
How to use:
1. Put in your plugin manager below YEP_MessageCore and RS_MessageAlign (if applicable).
2. Set up a button for fast-forwarding in plugin parameters.
You can get the plugin for free here: Cinematic Message Fade
