So this is my first post and I have a weird question, but this is something I've been thinking about for a while.  I'm creating a regular RPG. The thing is that I'd want every attack during battles to be accompanied by different animations that overlays the entire screen, an example would be the look of the special attacks in Advance Wars. I'm creating a regular RPG. The thing is that I'd want every attack during battles to be accompanied by different animations that overlays the entire screen, an example would be the look of the special attacks in Advance Wars. I'm an animator and like to do a short animation for the character performing the attack. I think this screenshot illustrates somewhat what I'd like to do. 


Is this possible using an transparent image sequence that's playing or perhaps by playing a video file? Any other suggestions to achieve anything like this would also be appreciated! 


I hope to show my progress very soon!
