Im new to RPG Maker MV. I have made a room where I (Main Character) walk in, then another character (new party member) walks in, we talk then he gives me a dagger, and 8 other characters (enemies) surrounds us and a battle ensues. I have everything done, except for the party during the battle, which for some reason does not seem to work right. When the battle starts, two guards and my party come onto the screen. This is the problem: I only have two party members, but four people are attacking, and only one actor shows up.

I have created another mock battle in another room that has me walking and randomly gaining a character (Photo 2)

and that is correct: two characters both showing up. What am I doing wrong?


I also included the 'code' where the new member give me a dagger, joins the party, the guards move to surround us, and the battle begins (Photo 4).
