I'm trying to create a good-looking spiraling descent into a hole in the ground.
This image from Final Fantasy VI (the bottom right one) is sort of what I'm going for. You're moving on a spiraling downward slope that ends in the center of the screen, at the very bottom, sort of a funnel shaped canyon.
The issue is with the A4 tiles. I like making the walls with them, but then it is difficult for the program to distinguish where one path should be separated from another. I'd use some A2 tiles, but they rarely get along with the A4 ones.
I could always do something a bit more custom (going as far as just drawing an entire parallax image for the sprite to crawl around), but I'm sure there's a way the program intends you to do this.
I'd also love to do this without ladders, but right now it makes less sense without them.
Any ideas? All suggestions or even examples would be appreciated!!
