Hi there! This is the Ludi Tarantula Team for the production of The Rebirth Of Franklin Albrecht.
These days we are fine-tuning the preparation of a preview, and we are refining some details.
Some stylistic choices forced us to move towards the necessity of producing custom plugins.
We are preparing a list of those that would be really useful to us in order to finish the preview.
1) Quality and resolution of the graphics.
This need comes from the use of the MBS Map Zoom plugin by Masked.
(As you can see, the graphics here are way... Crustier.)
We experimented with some solutions such as DBS Smooth Settings but the results that did not meet our expectations, as both the parallax and sprite came out a bit blurry.
We also tried other zoom plugins but they were all conflicting with one of our plugins.
2) COMPATIBILITY - Speech bubbles on the map.
This necessity stems from using the Triacontane MessagePopUp plugin at the same time as using the zoom plugin.
We had previously used Galv's Message Styles plugin, for which the user Ellie Jane had made an adaptation for MBS Map Zoom , but unfortunately the text settings in Galv's plugin also affected the main text in the dialogue box and we want them separated. So we had to change it.
3) Text manipulation.
This plugin is necessary for us as we have created a dialogue box as shown in the picture.
(The potrait still has to be shaded)
Note: we will be using the Animated Busts plug-in, which is already activated by inserting code that affects text (as much as we know, we are nor programmers and/or pluginners). We tested and dimostrated that the animated busts plugin is a bit problematic: it's not compatible with the YEP Extended Message Packs and Rhino's Slow Text plugin, so we will have to be extra-careful not to have conflicting plug-ins in this case. We understand that this work might be a bit more difficult.
4) Pixel movement and/or icons
We experimented with a pixel movement plugin called HalfMove by Triacontane but this caused problems with the Galv's Action Indicators, mainly because they abruptly disappear. We know why, but we don't know how to solve it.
5) Less Urgent - User Interface functionality
The UI is not ready yet, it needs to be animated and shaded and the letters within the shapes written in a decent font. For the preview we will simply work with Move Image commands, but it would be useful to start thinking already to imagine the complete UI in its functionality.
At the moment for the preview (which will only be in video format) you will see the diary icon light up (like a notification) and then move to reveal a text.
We reveal this detail because we are accepting advice on how to implement it or whether it is better to imagine it already in terms of functionality.
As we did for the topic in which we were looking for artists (for which we will close applications shortly) we are releasing here directly some useful material from which you can draw your own conclusions.
In this case it is a small project with the map that will be displayed in the preview.
It presents
- a tester to activate the interface
- a tester for displaying the dialogue box with the potrait
- a tester to display the speech bubble (graphically it's not complete)
- the zoom is already activated in 1.3 setting
-Other important plugins that the project needs so that you can find yourself confortable in finding conflicts etc.
Example: Galv's Camera Plugin that includes the Smooth Camera function.
(PS: We found some problems also with that: the smooth camera doesn't "swoosh" while walking as much as it does with normal map zoom, if we put 1.3 zoom.)
We are willing to accept your advice and suggestions to make the future gaming experience as comfortable and practical as possible.
We have prepared this list based on the need of the moment, but if someone believes in this project enough to eventually imagine a long term collaboration we will be happy to welcome them in our small team!
Thank you very much for viewing the post and have a nice day!
