Summary
I was wondering if there is a way to temporarily disable the "Star" effect from tiles (not Bush, my mistake). Some background information just in case there is another work-around: My character sprite is 2 tiles high. The chair is two tiles high. I set the top tile of my chair to "Star" so he can walk behind it. But when he sits down in the chair the "Star" part of the tile covers the top half of his face.

The only solution I could come up with on my own is to change the character's graphic and lower it while he is in the chair. But that wouldn't be a good way to deal with this because my character sprites change a lot during the game and that would require me making a whole new set of sprite sheets for all of my different character combinations just to lower them a few pixels.
Here are some pictures to better show my problem.
