I'm not sure exactly how to articulate this well but I'm going to try. So, I want my game to incorporate a sort of pseudo-isometric view like Earthbound. It doesn't use a typical top down view, but rather a more horizontal view as shown in the screenshot. For the most part, making the tiles is fine and easy (I split a piece of furniture into two tiles - bottom part always shows behind character sprites while the top part always shows in front so when they walk behind it, it realistically clips in front of my character). Then.... I run into the trouble of layering. If my character walks behind a furniture from the north side of it, the character is supposed to show behind it but when I walk in front, it of course still shows in front of my character, so it ends up looking like my screenshot where the top of my head is cut off. Is there a script that would let me avoid this?
