Memorial Persona
Glen Hansard was an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, and actor whose work carried the directness of a street performance into theaters and concert halls around the world. He began busking in Dublin as a teenager and became the voice and principal songwriter of The Frames, one of Ireland's most respected rock bands.
Hansard starred in and helped write the music for Once. Falling Slowly, written with Markéta Irglová, won the Academy Award for best original song and helped the film grow into an acclaimed stage musical. Across his solo recordings and collaborations, he was known for emotionally open performances, musical generosity, and a deep connection with audiences.
