Summary
I made a forum post about this plugin some months back but I figured that'd it'd be good to start a new thread for this perhaps since it has been a while, and that the problem at hand is a little different now. Basically, I've been trying to wrap my head around the Noblemushroom plugin, linked here. It is a plugin that will allow for an NVL message system, which is the big walls of text seen in a lot of visual novels for the uninformed. There's the aforementioned NVL...

My previous post had me ask about disabling the NVL messaging system, while keeping the plugin's menu system (which works excellently for a visual novel game built in RPG Maker, in my opinion) which I figured would have been a lot harder than it seemed, but as it turned out it was more so that there's a setting I can put the plugin in from the plugin manager menu that I simply overlooked, where I could set it between 0 (ADV mode), and 1 (NVL mode).
So, the issue at hand I'm having now is that I've realized that working entirely in the confines of ADV mode isn't ideal for the type of experience I am going for, even if the menu system is rather nice. It gets a little frustrating seeing the screen go dim and having the inner dialogues of my characters just behave like a normal dialogue box, but with a transparent background and moved to the top of the screen.
Naturally, one would expect a plugin command that could allow for the switching of the two message types, and yet the plugin's own nm_change_type_[number] command doesn't function, even if I use 1 or 0 for the corresponding message types. I've tried translating some of the parts in the script via Deepl, as a good portion of it is typed out in Japanese, but it didn't lead to any new breakthroughs. Perhaps I'm missing something here? I'd be really grateful if someone more knowledgeable on this sort of thing would help out with this.
