Summary

I'm having some trouble creating a side view battle system. The tutorials I've found haven't given any intruction on how to program the system myself. It was always "copy and paste". The tutorials left me unable to customize anything or add my own animations. The game that has a battle system closest to what I want is fire emblem. Here's a pic in the attachments. I would really appreciate the help. The community has been better than most other sources so far. {
