I would like some help on this battle system:

I guess i'll just have to show the objective of my proposed battle system

Party Size

      minimum: 5 actors (3 front row, 2 back row)

      maximum: 6 actors (3 front, 3 back)

State: Players turn

set-up: (state1.jpg)

     front row actors can be seen in the game screen, back row actors are off window (I'm using yanflys script)

- during players action phase, the back row actors has a chance (randomized to uhm, 25%?) to cast their support ability/skill/spell

- if the support is called, the actor pops in from the side (choosing between the back row actors is also randomized) (state2.jpg)

- the backrow actor activates the skill (state3.jpg)

- the backrow actor returns back off the screen

example game: Breath of Fire 4

where: it's called "Will" ability but the most similar to this is nina's "cheer" and ershin's "assist" where they must be placed at the back row in order to cast this

sadly that is the only game i know that has this kind of feature in the battle system (not much of a gamer, just a watcher )
