Summary
So, I wanted to fill space, give depth, and set things up so when I eventually do move onto all parallax backgrounds I can throw in some spiffy hidden passages / additional stories past the first floor. So I made the map to how I envisioned it'd look using RPG tiles. Set up some walls, and gave them ceiling tiles. To make closed off rooms, and little nooks and crannies. I go to test it out with my intro character sprite after I got him all spaced out, and looking mostly decent [still need to work on making his hands look more realistic, and add shading to his jacket when he moves.]
But when I walked around the room. I found he could walk on the cielings. All of the sprites I tested it out on [even the normal little chibi sprites that RPG Maker VX Ace uses] are able to just walk up there without a care of the world. I did have some stairs set up so that they could use little over hangs like a catwalk, but they're totally redundant atm.
How do I fix that, and how do you make nice dividers / additonal levels without players just walking up all over the roofing tiles totally ignoring [implied] walls and everything?
