Summary

Hey guys! I'm currently trying to figure out a way to make a "Line of Sight" for a shooter/abs horror game I'm making. From my research I've heard no one really has seen this done before (From research lol) and I've been looking around on google and forums for some time now Line of Sight would go along the lines of something like this in a 2D shooter:

Hey guys!

I'm currently trying to figure out a way to make a "Line of Sight" for a shooter/abs horror game I'm making.

From my research I've heard no one really has seen this done before (From research lol) and I've been looking around on google and forums for some time now

Line of Sight would go along the lines of something like this in a 2D shooter:

To me, this would add another dynamic to the horror game and some what simulate a concept in 3D horror games 2D games made on rpg maker ,cannot. This dynamic being is not being able to see what's behind you, adding an element of not knowing if something is there... or not. Allowing the developer (myself) to use dynamic sounds and subtle furniture/item movement to really double check the player's 6.

I dont expect it to be a shadow for every wall and object like in the video(Though, that would be perfect!), but mostly a cone of vision in front of the player that doesn't just light up the area in front of the character. Example, in a line of sight in the video, you cant see over a box or wall, but a cone or area in front of where the player is looking, he can see what's behind the box or wall.

Though, I'd prefer to have it like it is in the video, I just don't want it to be too complicated lol.

The ABS I'm using is Blizz ABS (current version).

If any of you know of a script that does this that I possibly missed while searching, or for all you scripters out there (I'm just starting to learn hehe x.x) that know of a way this could be done, PLEASE let me know! Really itching to add this to a horror game!

[EDIT]

I found and I'm currently using Wachunga's Fog of War script since it has a bit of what I'm looking for, but now the main question really is having a true "Line of Sight."

Like I stated earlier, being able to look down a hall way but cant see past a box or a few barrels, but you can still see all the way down the hall (Until the corner of the screen ofcorse) as well as you cant see behind you, over walls, exc.

For now, I'll be using Wachunga's as a temporary, or if no script is made/found, permanent system for this!

Thank you all so much for your time!
